I am thrilled to share that on Tuesday, March 19th, the John Glenn School Board of Trustees officially dedicated the John Glenn High School Baseball Field in honor of Mr. Richard "Dick" Reese.
We invite everyone to join us for a special dedication ceremony on April 19th at 7:00 PM, just before the championship game of the annual Dick Reese Baseball Classic at John Glenn High School. This event will include a field dedication, naming ceremony, and a ceremonial "turning on of the lights,"—marking a historic moment as we host the first-ever night baseball game in John Glenn High School history!
We also extend our deepest gratitude to Cathy Reese and her family for their generous $150,000 donation toward the baseball field lighting project. Their support has made this milestone possible.
For more details, you can view the full press release on our website (or see the attached document), which highlights Richard Reese's deep roots and lasting contributions to the John Glenn community.
In short, Mr. Reese was a proud John Glenn High School graduate who loved playing baseball and basketball for the Falcons. After college, he became a teacher and later returned to his alma mater, serving as principal of Urey Middle School for over 20 years. In 2005, he took on the role of Superintendent of John Glenn School Corporation, where he served until his retirement in 2019. Throughout his 40+ years in education, Mr. Reese was a dedicated relationship builder, a passionate advocate for public education, and a true champion of community service.
We look forward to celebrating this incredible legacy together!
Yours in Education,
Christopher Winchell
